MORALITY, Jithin Kalan

MORALITY

"Unexamined life is not worthwhile." Said by great Western philosopher Socrates.  I hope to examine our life we need morality in some extent. Now a day's one of the most important thing in the world is morality. I think people measure the character of other through the value that they have given to moral life. Morality is an unusual word. It is not used very much, at least not without some qualification. Morality from the Latin moralitas manner, character, proper behavior decisions, and actions between those that is good or right and bad or wrong. A moral code is a system and a moral is any one practice or teaching within a moral code. Morality in its descriptive meaning refers to personal or cultural values, codes of conduct or social mores that distinguish between right and wrong in the human society. Describing morality in this way is not making a claim about what is objectively right or wrong, but only referring to what is considered right or wrong by an individual or some group of people such as a religion. And in normative sense morality refers directly to what is right and wrong, regardless of what specific individuals think. It could be defined as the conduct of the ideal moral person in a certain situation. This usage of the term is characterized by definitive statements. According to Mohandas Gandhi morality is "Morality is rooted in the purity of our hearts. Morality is concept, or perhaps a set of rules. "If we are influenced of by social-scientific approaches morality is a psychological reaction or a distinctive form a learned behavior and if we are influenced by religion we may hold that morality is properly a set off divine commands."  These definitions show that morality is one of the basic thing which builds a society.

Morality, in philosophy has played a magnanimous role to promote the value of life and its features. What is the object, point, or goal of morality? It is a big question about morality by some philosophers. The answer by Tom L. Beauchamp. is the purpose of morality should be to create in individuals what he or she calls a good will which in his view this life the supreme good and the condition of every other moral good.  Morality has an important role as a group and as an individual.  Some observers hold that individuals apply distinct sets of moral rules to people depending on their membership of an in-group the individual and those they believe to be of the same culture or race or an out-group people not entitled to be treated according to the same rules. If a person wants to live in this world he should follow the moral code by the society and it guides us to lead a beautiful and fruitful life. When we see headlines in the news paper like euthanasia, gay marriage and abortion are supported by the government, try to understand that we are living without morality
