ABORTION,Sathish A.

ABORTION,Sathish A.

At first hearing, the word, "abortion" many of us would feel a kind of vibration or sympathy because the word itself displays us a clear picture of a mother with a child who is struggling for life or survival. My understanding of the word 'abortion' in a scientific term is, that "it is a premature birth before the embryo or fetus can survive outside the mother's womb".

If we go into further details, some of us who did their studies on science they may know that 'abortions' are classified as being either 'spontaneous' or 'induced'. Firstly, a spontaneous abortion, commonly a miscarriage, occurs because something went wrong with either the placenta or the normal growth of the baby, leading to either premature birth, or the death of the child in the womb. Often it is impossible to determine exactly what went wrong. Secondly, an induced abortion is the willful and forced expulsion of the fetus or embryo from the womb. If the womb in a given case is capable of carrying the child at least to viability, the induced abortion is called elective.

If the womb can in no way do this, and both the mother and the fetal child will die in a short time if the child is not expelled from the womb, the induced abortion can properly be called therapeutic, and is not directed intentionally forward fetal death as either an end or a means. The people, who try to support the view of abortion, say that the death of a newly fertilized human egg does not seem the same as the death of a person. In addition to this, the Christians' perspective as well as the teaching is very different and something divine.

In other words, 'it is something that is related to God because the view or idea is that when a child is formed in the womb of a mother, it is God who throws the light of life or blows the breath of life. So in the case, who are we to destroy or terminate that life given by God? If we think morally, I am certain that there would be oppositions to almost all abortions, so my opinion is, why can't we love and them both?
