LOYALTY, Sathish A.

To be trusted is a greater compliment than to be loved said by Geroge MacDonald, but we all like to be loved first. It may be that, we haven't understood the meaning of the word "loyalty" so I start with the meaning of the word, 'it is the quality of remaining faithful through thick and thin, to oneself and others.' It can be cultivated by striving for the honour of others, keeping the confidence others have in you, loving God and serving him. It literally means, 'being faithful to a person, an ideal or a custom, a cause, or a duty,faithful.'

            In other sense, 'it is the state or quality of being loyal or at fidelity.''Loyalty' is also meant 'a feeling of devoted attachment and affection, and being faithful as to one's country, duty, or friend and it is a condition of being loyal.' The words that have the same meaning are faithful, devotion, allegiance, homage, fealtyand contancy. In addition to this, I add the meaning that 'loyalty' is the faithfulness to those having authority over one.

                Lack of loyalty is one of the major causes of failure in every walk of life, it is a saying which makes all of us to understand how important the quality, 'loyalty' is. I personally feel that the word 'loyalty' is something to do with 'honesty' and 'truthfulness'. Pope A. says; an honest man is the noblest work of God, and in fact, 'honesty' means truthfulness which refers to complete sincerity and honesty. It is the sign of a truly integrated person, it can be cultivated by never saying A LIE even in small matters and searching for truth always and avoiding telling lies even playfully.

Thomas Brooks says, truthfulness is mighty and will prevail, so what I try to say is that we should have the quatlity of 'loyalty' it matters a lot because whatever we do there may be the temptation of doing something illegal which would lead us into trouble. And therefore, 'loyalty' is the conscientious performance of different works. It can be cultivated by praying and relating to God and participating in community service in a honest manner and working diligently and efficiently.
